Founded on a commitment to excellence in science and industry support, the SRA goals are to:
- Deliver impact nationally and globally
- Improve outputs and outcomes for the economy, society and the environment
- Focus support though the Australian chemistry industry and value-chains
The work program is based on four pillars needed to nurture an efficient innovation economy:
- Supporting and developing the supply side capability of research and universities to deliver the technology and talent needed by industry
- Supporting and developing the demand side needs of industry
- Facilitating the opportunities for demand and supply sides of the economy to engage and build value
- Provide the administrative support needed to map and deliver strategy and programs, gather and communicate evidence of success.
Resourcing for this important initiative is provided by seconded CSIRO researchers working at Chemistry Australia. This provides a real-world environment and professional development for researchers who carry this knowledge and industrial context back into CSIRO for their ongoing work.
This important strategic initiative has delivered:
- Mapping the technology and talent pathways needed to increase collaboration
- Piloted an engagement model for research and industry to better connect focusing on their strategic demand and supply needs and capabilities
- Piloted a Technology Opportunity portal so Chemistry Australia members have access to new technologies within research organisations and universities
